At CH Containers, we aim to provide clear, transparent and straightforward return and refund arrangements for all shipping container purchases.
This Return & Refund Policy applies to purchases made through the CH Containers website and should be read together with our Shipping & Delivery Policy and Terms & Conditions.
Nothing in this policy excludes or restricts any statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded or restricted under applicable UK law.

2. 30-Day Voluntary Return Policy
CH Containers accepts eligible customer-requested returns within 30 days of delivery.
This 30-day return period applies to voluntary returns, including where a customer changes their mind or no longer requires the container, subject to the conditions in this policy and any applicable statutory rights.
To request a return, customers should contact CH Containers within the applicable return period.
The return request should include:
- Full name
- Order number
- Delivery address
- Delivery date
- Container details
- Reason for return
- Photographs where appropriate
- Any other information reasonably required to arrange collection
Where the return meets the conditions of this voluntary return policy, CH Containers will arrange the return collection with an appropriate specialist haulage or transport provider.
3. Voluntary Return Collection Fee
For an eligible voluntary return requested by the customer after delivery, the customer is responsible for the return collection cost.
The fixed return collection charge is:
£460.00 GBP
This charge is paid by the customer before the return collection is arranged.
The £460.00 GBP charge covers the specialist transport and collection arrangements required to collect a shipping container.
It is not a restocking fee.
Restocking Fee
£0.00 GBP
CH Containers does not charge a separate restocking fee.
No percentage-based restocking charge or additional fixed restocking charge will be applied to an eligible voluntary return.
4. Return Conditions
For a voluntary return, the container must be:
- Unmodified
- In substantially the same condition as delivered
- Accessible for collection
- Available for safe collection by the appointed transport provider
- Free from the customer’s personal belongings, materials and equipment
Customers must not materially alter, modify or damage the container before collection.
Examples of modifications include:
- Cutting
- Welding
- Structural alterations
- Permanent installations
- Major painting or alteration
- Other modifications that materially change the container
If a container has been materially modified or damaged after delivery, the customer should contact CH Containers before arranging a return.
Nothing in this section limits any statutory rights that apply to faulty or non-conforming goods.
5. Used Shipping Containers
CH Containers sells both new and used shipping containers.
Used containers may show reasonable signs of previous use, age and handling.
Depending on the product and its described condition, this may include:
- Minor dents
- Scratches
- Surface rust
- Paint wear
- Cosmetic marks
- Signs of previous handling
- Other reasonable characteristics associated with a used container
These characteristics do not automatically constitute a defect where they are consistent with the product description provided at the time of purchase.
A used container must nevertheless conform to its description and applicable legal requirements.
6. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Containers
If a container is faulty, significantly damaged before delivery, not as described or incorrectly supplied, customers should contact CH Containers as soon as possible.
Examples of qualifying issues may include:
- Structural damage
- Serious water ingress
- Faulty doors
- Significant damage occurring before delivery
- Incorrect container supplied
- Other material defects or non-conformities
Where CH Containers is responsible for the issue, CH Containers will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable law.
Depending on the circumstances, the remedy may include:
- Repair
- Replacement
- Partial refund
- Full refund
- Collection of the container
Where collection or return is required because the container is confirmed to be faulty, incorrectly supplied or otherwise requires a remedy for which CH Containers is responsible, CH Containers will pay the appropriate return or collection transportation cost.
The customer will not be charged the £460.00 voluntary return collection fee in these circumstances.
7. Delivery Damage
Customers should inspect the container as soon as reasonably possible following delivery.
As stated in our Shipping & Delivery Policy, customers should notify CH Containers of visible transport damage, delivery discrepancies or other immediately apparent issues within 24 hours of delivery wherever reasonably possible.
Customers should provide photographs of the container and the reported issue.
Where appropriate, customers may also provide video evidence.
The 24-hour notification period assists CH Containers and its transport partners in investigating delivery-related issues promptly.
It does not remove or restrict statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded.
8. Hidden or Later-Discovered Defects
If a defect was not reasonably visible at delivery and is discovered later, customers should contact CH Containers as soon as reasonably practicable after discovering the issue.
Customers should provide:
- Order number
- Delivery date
- Description of the issue
- Photographs
- Videos where appropriate
- Any other relevant information reasonably requested by CH Containers
CH Containers will investigate the reported issue and provide the appropriate remedy where the company is responsible or where applicable law requires a remedy.
9. Refunds
Where a refund is due under this policy or applicable law, CH Containers will issue the refund to the original payment method used for the purchase, unless another method is agreed or required by law.
Refunds will normally be processed by CH Containers within 7 business days after the refund has been confirmed as payable.
After CH Containers processes the refund, the time required for the funds to appear in the customer’s account may depend on the customer’s bank, card issuer or payment provider.
Where applicable law requires a refund to be made sooner, the applicable legal timeframe will apply.
10. Full Refunds
A full refund may apply where:
- A qualifying statutory cancellation right is exercised
- An incorrect container was supplied and a refund is the appropriate remedy
- A qualifying serious defect cannot appropriately be resolved through repair or replacement
- Applicable law requires a full refund
- CH Containers agrees that a full refund is the appropriate remedy
Where a full refund is due because of a confirmed CH Containers error or qualifying product defect, CH Containers will also handle any applicable return or collection costs in accordance with applicable law.
11. Partial Refunds
A partial refund or appropriate price reduction may be offered where a container has a confirmed issue but the customer agrees to retain the container.
A partial refund may be appropriate where:
- The issue does not require the container to be returned
- The customer agrees to retain the container
- The issue can be resolved without complete replacement
- A price reduction is appropriate under the circumstances
- Applicable law provides for or permits a price reduction
Any statutory right to a price reduction remains unaffected.
12. Repair and Replacement
Where appropriate, CH Containers may resolve a qualifying issue through:
- Repair
- Replacement
- Partial refund
- Full refund
- Collection and return
Where a repair or replacement is appropriate, CH Containers will arrange the remedy within a reasonable period and in accordance with applicable law.
Where a replacement is agreed, the replacement container will be subject to availability.
13. Incorrect Container Supplied
If CH Containers supplies the wrong container due to an error on our part, customers should contact us as soon as possible.
Once the error is confirmed, CH Containers will arrange an appropriate remedy.
This may include:
- Supplying the correct container
- Collecting the incorrectly supplied container
- Replacing the container
- Providing a partial refund
- Providing a full refund
Where collection is required because CH Containers supplied the incorrect container, CH Containers will pay the appropriate collection cost.
The customer will not be charged the £460.00 voluntary return collection fee.
14. Customer-Caused Damage
CH Containers is not responsible for damage caused after delivery by the customer or by persons acting on the customer’s behalf.
This may include damage resulting from:
- Improper handling
- Negligence
- Unauthorised repairs
- Cutting
- Welding
- Structural modifications
- Improper relocation
- Incorrect use
- Accidental damage
- Other customer-caused damage
This does not affect statutory rights relating to defects or non-conformities that existed independently of customer-caused damage.
15. Failed Delivery Due to Customer or Site Conditions
Our Shipping & Delivery Policy requires customers to ensure that the delivery site is suitable and safely accessible.
Delivery may be unsuccessful where there is:
- Insufficient access
- Insufficient manoeuvring space
- Unsuitable or unstable ground
- Blocked access
- Insufficient clearance
- Unsafe road or site conditions
- Incorrect or incomplete delivery information
Where a delivery cannot be completed because of circumstances for which the customer is responsible, the delivery will be rearranged where possible.
The existing £150.00 GBP fixed redelivery fee applies before a second delivery attempt is scheduled.
A customer-caused failed delivery does not automatically constitute a product defect or provide an automatic entitlement to a free cancellation or refund.
16. Return Collection Requirements
Customers requesting an eligible voluntary return must ensure that the container is ready and accessible for collection.
The collection site must provide:
- Safe access
- Suitable road access
- Sufficient manoeuvring space
- Suitable and stable ground
- Adequate clearance
- A safe location for collection
The container must be free of the customer’s belongings and materials.
If a collection cannot be completed because the customer has not provided suitable access or safe collection conditions, the collection may need to be rearranged.
Any applicable additional transport or redelivery costs will be communicated to the customer before they are incurred, subject to applicable law.
17. Cancellation Before Dispatch
Customers may request cancellation before dispatch.
Where an order is cancelled before dispatch and the cancellation is permitted under this policy or applicable law, CH Containers will issue the applicable refund.
For consumer purchases, statutory cancellation rights are preserved.
Customers should contact CH Containers as soon as possible because orders may enter processing or transport arrangements shortly after payment.
18. Cancellation After Dispatch
Once a container has been dispatched, a customer-requested cancellation is handled as a return unless a statutory cancellation right applies.
For an eligible voluntary return after dispatch or delivery, the £460.00 GBP return collection charge applies.
Customers should not refuse delivery solely to cancel an order.
Where a customer refuses or prevents delivery for reasons that are their responsibility, the failed-delivery and redelivery provisions in our Shipping & Delivery Policy may apply.
19. Statutory Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Return & Refund Policy limits or excludes mandatory consumer rights under applicable UK law.
Where a consumer has a statutory right to cancel, return, repair, replacement, price reduction or refund, CH Containers will comply with that right.
Where statutory requirements differ from the voluntary return terms stated in this policy, the applicable statutory requirements take precedence.
Our 30-day voluntary return policy is an additional company return policy and does not replace mandatory consumer protections.
20. Business Customers
CH Containers supplies shipping containers to both consumers and businesses.
Where a purchase is made wholly or mainly for business purposes, consumer-specific statutory protections may not apply in the same manner as they do to individual consumers.
Business customers should review the product description, order information, Shipping & Delivery Policy and this Return & Refund Policy before purchasing.
Any contractual and statutory rights applicable to the particular business transaction remain unaffected.
21. Return and Refund Request Process
To request a return or refund, contact CH Containers using the details below.
Please provide:
- Full name
- Order number
- Delivery address
- Delivery date
- Container details
- Reason for the return or refund
- Photographs where applicable

CH Containers will respond to the request and explain the applicable return or refund procedure.
For eligible voluntary returns, CH Containers will provide the collection arrangements and the applicable £460.00 GBP return collection charge before collection is scheduled.
For confirmed faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied containers where CH Containers is responsible, CH Containers will arrange the appropriate remedy and applicable collection at its expense.
22. No Hidden Restocking Fees
CH Containers does not charge a hidden or additional restocking fee.
Restocking fee: £0.00 GBP.
The only standard charge for an eligible voluntary return after delivery is the stated £460.00 GBP specialist return collection charge, which is paid by the customer.
The £460.00 GBP charge is a transportation and collection charge and is separate from any restocking fee.
No additional restocking percentage or fixed restocking fee will be added to an eligible voluntary return.
23. Return Shipping and Collection Costs
The return collection arrangements are as follows:
Customer-requested voluntary return
Return collection cost: £460.00 GBP
Paid by: Customer
Faulty or incorrectly supplied container where CH Containers is responsible
Return/collection cost: Paid by CH Containers
Customer-caused failed delivery
Redelivery fee: £150.00 GBP

Rerouting fee: £150.00 GBP where applicable
The delivery and rerouting terms above remain subject to the CH Containers Shipping & Delivery Policy.
24. Refund Timing
Once CH Containers confirms that a refund is payable:
Refund processing time: Within 7 business days.
Refunds are normally made to the original payment method.
The customer’s bank or payment provider may require additional time to make the funds available after CH Containers has processed the refund.
25. Northern Ireland and Offshore Islands
CH Containers does not deliver shipping containers to Northern Ireland or offshore islands.
These locations are excluded from checkout under our Shipping & Delivery Policy.
If an order is accepted for an excluded location because of a technical or administrative error, CH Containers will contact the customer to arrange an appropriate solution, which may include a refund or an alternative eligible mainland delivery address.
26. Delivery Charges and Refunds
CH Containers provides:
FREE standard delivery to eligible accessible sites within our standard delivery area.
£460.00 GBP remote-area delivery charge for qualifying remote or restricted-access interior locations on the British mainland.
These delivery charges are separate from the £460.00 GBP voluntary return collection charge.
For voluntary customer-requested returns, the applicable return collection charge is paid by the customer.
Where a refund is required because of a confirmed CH Containers error, qualifying product defect or another circumstance where applicable law requires CH Containers to bear the return costs, CH Containers will handle the relevant collection and refund arrangements accordingly.
27. Delivery Delays
Estimated delivery times are stated in our Shipping & Delivery Policy.
Normal estimated delivery times are:
- Order processing: 1–3 business days
- Standard delivery: 4–10 business days from dispatch
- Remote interior delivery: 5–14 business days from dispatch
Delivery times may vary because of traffic, weather, road restrictions, carrier availability, transport availability and other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
A delivery delay does not automatically mean that the container is defective or that a refund is automatically due.
Where applicable law gives a customer a right to cancel because of a failure to deliver within the required period, CH Containers will comply with that right.
